Skincare tools can make your skincare routine more effective—they’re great for
stimulating blood flow and helping your products penetrate deeper into the skin.
They can also help reduce puffiness beauty shop beauty shop, decongest pores, and give you a more radiant,
brighter complexion. Some tools, like a micro-needling tool or LED light device, can
even stimulate collagen growth for plumper and tighter skin.
Others, like a jade roller or gua sha stone, are less invasive and more relaxing.
They’re especially great for soothing tired, stressed out faces. But how exactly do
these little beauty accessories work? We turned to some of our favorite beauty
experts to get their take on the best skincare tools and accessories, as well as the
best Kiehl’s products to pair with them.
If you’re new to skincare tools, it’s always best to start small. “Avoid anything too
invasive until you’ve had some experience and know what your skin needs are,”
says one of our favorite skincare experts, dermatologist Rachel Nazarian. “If you’re
going to try something like a dermaroller or LED light device, it’s a good idea to
consult your dermatologist first.”
The other experts we talked to agreed that it’s important to be careful not to
introduce too many new tools or accessories at once. That way, you’ll be able to
determine what works best for your skin and what doesn’t. And, finally, remember
that even the most simple skincare tools require maintenance, so you’ll want to be
sure you’re cleaning them regularly (spritz them with some alcohol, then let dry) to
avoid introducing bacteria or excess oil.
A few of our favorites include a face massager, an ice roller, and a sculpting bar. The
sculpting bar, in particular, has been shown to lift and firm the face for more
youthful-looking skin. It’s easy to use, too: Just apply your favorite serum or
moisturizer, then run the sculpting bar across your face in circular motions. The
results can be quite dramatic. You’ll also find that the tool helps remove any stray
hairs in between your eyebrows and around your mouth for a smoother makeup
canvas. Try it out, and we think you’ll be hooked!
